I was doing a video for the song Trentham on Saturday in Moelfre, Anglesey, where we did the photos for 'A Trip To The Coast'. We were doing some filming on a little pebble beach. There was myself, a cameraman and the A and R bloke from Tapete Records, both German. The A and R bloke, Lutz, slipped on a piece of seaweed (I kid you not) and fell over. My brother who saw it said It didn't look very serious. Anyway Lutz said he couldn't move his leg so as a precaution we phoned emergency services to be safe. They turned up, said he couldn't be moved from the beach and alerted the air rescue helicopter who after 3 attempts winched Lutz on board. He was understandably terrified and they had to force him to be winched up, hence the 2 aborted attempts.
Alice my youngest daughter has videod the whole thing on her new I pad. It does look very spectacular.
Anyway obviously we cancelled the filming. (We had been filming for 8 minutes) and followed the helicopter to Bangor Hospital A and E where Lutz was X-rayed. He had broken his hip and needed an hour and a half operation later that night to insert 3 screws to fix him back up. Totally incredible.
They had him up walking with crutches the next day despite being in agony and the next day he was able to get himself to the hospital paper shop! He is now awaiting a transfer back home to Hamburg so he can play for St Pauli in Central midfield this weekend……….
He's made of strong stuff. A top guy and lovely too.
Wishing you a quick and strong recovery Lutz.
